He is also the Founder President of the Ecotourism Society of India, the Senior Vice President of the Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI) and member of the National Tourism Advisory Council of India. Soin, who holds a fellowship in the Royal Geographical Society, has spent over 40 years in the field of adventure. He made the first Indian ascent of Mount Meru and Z1 in the Himalayas, and instructed in the outward bound in Scotland. Some of his expeditions across six continents include an environmental expedition in the Arctic; rock climbing in India and the Dolomites; overland mountain biking from Delhi to Kathmandu; trekking across the Himalayas and the Gobi desert in Mongolia; walking on frozen rivers; sky diving, and bungee jumping. “It is an honour and recognition to my contribution in field of adventure. I am happy to accept this great honour and will continue to contribute in the field of adventure with earnestly and sincerely. My contribution will be in the field of Adventure Tourism and other adventure-related activities,” said Soin, who is an international authority on adventure travel and Ecotourism, and propagates the virtues of responsible tourism in various forums in India and overseas. Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Awards are given to individuals excelling in adventure activities, and are named after Tenzing Norgay, who climbed Mount Everest in 1953 along with Edmund Hillary.
