The Position:

To manage the operation in South Africa by organising the daily office routine, ensuring compliance with company sales & service policies and procedures. Develop and implement strategy to contribute towards achieving the station marketing plan, revenue targets and maintain Service Quality Levels throughout the year. Ensure sufficient staffing levels are maintained in order to achieve objectives.

The Position:

To manage the operation in South Africa by organising the daily office routine, ensuring compliance with company sales & service policies and procedures. Develop and implement strategy to contribute towards achieving the station marketing plan, revenue targets and maintain Service Quality Levels throughout the year. Ensure sufficient staffing levels are maintained in order to achieve objectives. This would include any language requirements, peak period coverage, any requirement to provide support to other areas etc.

Provide clear leadership and guidance to all personnel in order to achieve the overall objectives, but also take into account individual development needs and aspirations. Maintain a high level of staff morale and motivation. Provide on the job coaching to all new staff and co ordinate with Training & Development to plan and prioritize their training requirements. Liaise with other departmental heads regularly and ensure all relevant information, such as updates of EK products, services, special promotions are communicated to personnel so that revenue and customer service opportunities can be maximised.

Budgetary responsibilities — monitor actual costs and ensure these stay within the provisions made in the budget. Assist in controlling local travel agent’s GDS activities and discipline and maintain the station GDS costs within target. Ensure that a high level of customer service is provided consistently. Handle complaints and liaise with the respective departments and interline carriers when necessary.Actively increase the sales awareness of Reservations and Ticketing staff in order to contribute to increasing area revenues. Maintain a good level of communication and co-operation with all other departments and travel agencies in South Africa.

Experience and Qualifications:

• University Graduate
• 8 years experience in the travel industry of which at least 5 years should be in a supervisory role.
• IATA Certificate or equivalent in Advanced Fares and Ticketing and knowledge of the local market fares on principal carriers.
• Proficient in MS office applications such as MS Word and Excel.
• Must have a pleasant, outgoing personality and good inter-personal skills. Excellent supervisory and man management skills.
• Must be fluent in spoken and written English and should have a good command over the local language
