United Airlines today is hosting 175 sixth- and ninth-grade students from Denver’s Bruce Randolf public school at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts for a performance of The Giver. The students will enjoy a matinee performance of the play which is based on Lois Lowry’s powerful Newbery Medal-winning novel. “We are pleased to collaborate with the Denver Center for the Performing Arts and Denver Public Schools - two of United’s valued partners - to help expose these students to just one of the many impressive civic and arts experiences Denver has to offer,” says United’s Director of Government Affairs in Colorado, Lori Fox. Passengers flying from UK airports frequently encounter longer and more flight delays, according to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). Official figures show that at Heathrow Airport’s 27 per cent scheduled flights were delayed in April to June this year, which calculates to more than one in four scheduled flights. An official report into the Costa Concordia disaster has blamed Capt Francesco Schettino for the sinking of the ship. Some 32 people died during the accident in January this year, when the vessel sunk off the Island of Giglio on the Italian coast. However, the report also found fault with the operator of the ship, Costa. Capt Schettino was blamed for a risky maneuver which ended when the ship ran aground.

Six in Ten (61%) Conservative MPs believe a reduction in Air Passenger Duty (APD) should be considered to stimulate growth according to a new survey published today by ABTA - The Travel Association, also a member of A Fair Tax on Flying campaign.
