In order to reach out to the travel trade in North India, Goa Tourism had organised a roadshow last week in New Delhi on June 14, followed by Gurgaon on June 15. Dilip Parulekar, Minister for Tourism, Woman & Child Development, Government of Goa, interacted with the travel agents during the 'Goa Evening' gala, which was organised with cultural performances.
The state tourism department had also organised a three-day cultural festival starting from June 13, titled ‘Goan Fest – 2013’, in New Delhi. Inaugurated by Valsala Vijayan, Deputy Resident Commissioner, Goa Sadan, at Dilli Haat, the festival was open to public. It witnessed more than 500 visitors on the first day alone. The festival had 16 stalls for Goan handicrafts such as jute items, ceramics, patch work and clay work, and stalls set up by local hoteliers and tour operators.
Goa Tourism is keen on tapping the Domestic Tourism segment by promoting the state during offseason, i.e. from April to October. The department is currently focusing on North India with multiple roadshows planned in Chandigarh, Shimla, Jalandhar, and Amritsar in the coming months, ending with Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar in Gujarat.
