The total approximate earnings of Indian Railways on originating basis from June 11 to 20, 2012 were Rs 3281.74 crore compared to Rs 2664.59 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 23.16 per cent.
According to a statement by the Ministry of Railways, the total passenger revenue earnings during the said period were Rs 835.00 crore as compared to Rs 756.92 crore during the same period last year, reflecting an increase of 10.32 per cent. The total approximate numbers of passengers booked during the period were 254.76 million compared to 232.49 million during the same period last year, an increase of 9.58 per cent. In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the numbers of passengers booked were 139.46 million and 115.30 million compared to 122.30 million, and 110.19 million during the same period last year, registering an increase of 14.03 per cent and 4.64 per cent respectively.
