India Tourism, Mumbai in collaboration with Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC), will organise a tourism and cultural event to highlight the destinations of Maharashtra, at Phoenix Market City Mall, Kurla (Atrium No 6), from October 4 to 7, 2012. The resources of the state will be up for display with colorful stalls depicting Maharashtrain culture, dance,
fashion, handlooms, handicrafts, bamboo crafts, Agro Tourism and Special Tourism (Mahabhraman).
Dr Jagdish Patil, Managing Director, MTDC, said, “We are providing stalls to national and local tour operators, local handicraft and handloom entrepreneurs who will also be the part of jubilation. Stalls exhibiting local arts and craft, and a variety of sumptuous Maharashtrian food will be the centre of attraction of the four-day event.”
The state traditional and folk dance forms like Lavni, Dhangari Gaja, Povadas, Koli and Tamasha will be performed at the event. In addition, under the theme 'East Meets West', the North Eastern states of Meghalaya, Nagaland and Sikkim will present their tourism products and dances through cultural performances to be performed by Cultural Troupe specially invited from the North East.
