Mehrangarh Fort, Jodhpur was recently rated the number one tourist attraction in India by TripAdvisor on the basis of reviews by foreign travellers. The travel website listed the top 15 Indian historic/landmark sites most loved by international tourists, based on reviews and ratings by international travellers who had visited these sites.
The list includes five UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Mehrangarh Fort was featured as a prominent backdrop in the third movie in the Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises, according to a press release.
The other 14 sites that made to the list are Taj Mahal, Agra – World Heritage Site; Khajuraho Temples, Khajuraho – World Heritage Site; Amber (Amer) Fort and Palace, Jaipur; Tomb of Itmad-ud-Daulah, Agra; Mysore Maharaja’s Palace (Amba Vilas), Mysore; Swaminarayan Akshardham, New Delhi; Agra Fort, Agra – World Heritage Site; Humayun’s Tomb, New Delhi – World Heritage Site; Qutub Minar, New Delhi – World Heritage Site; Mani Bhavan Gandhi Museum, Mumbai; Jaisalmer Fortress, Jaisalmer; Golkonda Fort, Hyderabad; Gandhi Smriti, New Delhi; and City Palace of Udaipur, Udaipur.
