Air Mauritius recently nominated Appalsamy Thomas, GOSK as Director and elected him as Chairman of the Board of Directors. Prior to this, Thomas was the Group Head - Human Resources, Marketing and Communications, Harel Mallac, and Chairman, Mauritius Telecom.
Thomas has worked with Air Maurituis for 13 years. He has been the Executive Advisor to the Chairman and Managing Director, Air Mauritius among other positions held at the airlines. Thomas, who holds a Diploma in Personnel Management, a Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, and an MBA degree from the University of Surrey, UK, worked as CEO - Central, Eastern and Southern Africa Region, DCDM in 2004 and as Human Resources Manager, British American Tobacco, in 1986. Thomas also holds a fellowship in the Chartered Institute of Management of UK, Mauritian Institute of Management, and Mauritius Institute of Directors.
Further, the airline’s Board of Directors confirmed Andre Viljoen as CEO. A Chartered Accountant by educational qualification, Viljoen worked as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Information Officer in April 2009 and as the acting CEO since December 2010.
