The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) plans to introduce a ticket system for tourists at Aguada fort in Goa, Dilip Parulekar, Minister for Tourism, Govt. of Goa informed the Goa legislative assembly yesterday. With large number of tourists flocking to the fort, the ASI is planning to introduce ticket system, Parulekar said, as per a TOI report by Joaquim Fernandes.
Asked whether the government proposed to develop and beautify Aguada fort and church for promotion of tourism, Parulekar said that the government has no such proposal. He said the Aguada fort has been declared a monument of national importance by the government of India and that it is maintained by the ASI. The conservation and preservation of the upper and lower fort of Aguada is being carried out regularly as per the approved conservation plan by ASI. Also, the ASI has already provided tourist amenities like drinking water, toilets and brochures on upper fort of Aguada.
