All Nippon Airways (ANA) has said that it will start three direct flights a week from Narita Airport in Tokyo to Yangon in Myanmar from October 15, 2012. The flights will operate on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.
The flight will depart at 10.30 am and arrive at Yangon at 3.30 pm. Bookings for flights have already begun and ANA will use 767-300 ER aircraft on the route. The route,
however, will be suspended during January 5 to 28, 2013 due to aircraft maintenance schedule. The airline said that the expansion is part of a wider group corporate strategy to get a foothold in markets in Asia where there is still demand-supply mismatch as far as connectivity to the US market is concerned. "By expanding its route network in the growing Asian market, ANA aims to capitalise on the projected increase in demand for indirect flights between Asia and North America via Japan. This will allow ANA to accelerate the expansion of its international network, which is a key pillar of its FY2012-13 corporate strategy, and further strengthen ANA's business model as a network carrier," the airline said in a statement.The flight will depart at 10.30 am and arrive at Yangon at 3.30 pm.
