Also looking forward to nod from MoD for getting access to restricted areas
With various tourism boards and associations approaching the Ministry of Tourism (MoT) post the Union Budget 2008-09 with their proposals, the Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI) has also put forth some special demands in their proposal to MoT. The Association wants specialised training from foreign experts for upgrading their knowledge and expanding their horizon in adventure tourism.
A highly placed source in the MoT said, “Like all other Associations, ATOAI has also approached us post the budget with their proposal. They want training for upgrading the knowledge and skills of guides and locals for adventure activities. They have also demanded permission for accessing restricted areas and terrains for conducting tourism activities. However, for getting access to peaks and heights, which are open only to the army and defence personnel, they will have to seek permission from the Ministry of Defence (MoD).”
