The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) is toying with the idea of roping in Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation Limited (MSRTC) to operate its luxury bus service to the Konkan region from Pune and Mumbai, as per a Mumbai Mirror report.
Private tour operators have not shown interest in the project citing lack of infrastructure facilities in the Konkan region. “State Tourism Minister Chhagan Bhujbal is of the view that the bus service be operated by MSRTC on routes decided by the MTDC," an official said. Under the new proposal, one bus each will be operated in Nagpur for Forest Tourism, Aurangabad and the same for Nashik, Konkan, Mumbai Local Tourism and the fifth bus from Mumbai airport to Shirdi and Pune.
