Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Ltd (TCGL) is now focusing on providing better infrastructure to tourists coming to the state. The state has decided to spend around Rs 300 crore for developing infrastructure at tourist destinations such as Dwarka,
Somnath, Ambaji, Dakor, Saputara, Gir, Kutch and Modhera, which account for almost three-fourth of the total tourist inflow in the state. Vipul Mittra, Principal Secretary - Tourism, Civil Aviation and Pilgrimage, Government of Gujarat said the state has been promoting itself as a tourist destination for the past few years. Now there is a need to focus on the infrastructure as there were complaints about lack of adequate hotel rooms and other infrastructure, according to a TOI report. "We have achieved success in attracting tourists and now the government is focusing on strengthening physical infrastructure such as better roads, quality power, water supply and other basic amenities at tourist destinations. We will also come out with policies to attract private investors to set up hotels and resorts at these places," he added.
