In order to offer additional value to the passengers and generate more revenue, Cathay Pacific Airways plans to introduce Premium Economy Class on Mumbai-Hong Kong and Delhi-Hong Kong routes by late 2012.
The airline introduced First Class on the Mumbai-Hong Kong sector in October last year. Elaborating about the new product Rakesh Raicar, Regional Sales & Marketing Manager, South Asia, Cathay Pacific Airways Limited said, “Our new Premium Economy Class is a total enhancement of Economy Class experience and is designed to give passengers more comfort, space and personal attention throughout their journey.” “The Premium Economy Class is expected to be introduced on flights from Mumbai and Delhi to Hong Kong by the end of second half of the year subject to aircraft availability and market requirements. It will also depend on the demand in the market and if continuing with the larger capacity 747 aircraft makes more economic sense we may choose to continue the current product in Mumbai and may deploy the Premium Economy product only in Delhi,” added Raicar. The new Premium Economy Class experience features a quieter, more spacious cabin than the traditional Economy Class and will between 26 and 34 seats. The seat pitch will be 38 inches – six inches more than Economy Class – and the seat itself will be wider and have a bigger recline. The Premium Economy passengers will have dedicated check-in counters and priority boarding at the gate. For entertainment, the passengers will have a wider choice. The Premium Class will also feature the multi-port connector to stream audio and video from personal devices to the 10.6-inch widescreen personal TV with a noise-cancelling headset.
