It was a honeymoon trip, but the German couple who had travelled to Delhi for the vacation were in for a nightmare.
Kai Trostrum and Shirin, residents of Bonn, were cheated and forced to give up Rs 1.6 lakh by a tour operator and taxi driver, police said on Tuesday.
“Tour operator Jahangir Ahmed Wani and driver Rajinder Singh were apprehended from Gole Market and IGI Airport for allegedly threatening and cheating the German couple,” said R A Sanjeev, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Airport).
The Trostrums landed in Delhi on January 5 and hired a pre-paid taxi to go to Paharganj, where they had booked a hotel, police said.
“The couple, who married two years ago, had saved up for their honeymoon trip to India,” Sanjeev said.
According to police, the taxi driver misguided them by saying that he could not find the hotel and their rooms could be occupied already as many trains...Click here to see the original article>
