Jet Airways yesterday completed two decades of services, since it began operations as an Air Taxi Operator. The airline took delivery of its first aircraft in Mumbai in the presence of J R D Tata, the father of Indian Civil Aviation. Ever since, the airline's mission has been to widen connectivity within India and overseas and facilitate the movement of people, encouraging both tourism and trade, while contributing in tandem to the development of the Indian economy, a release stated.
The airline embarked on international expansion in March 2004 with a flight between Chennai and Colombo, and later opened international routes initially within the SAARC region and then to Singapore, Bangkok, and London.
