Amadeus, a transaction processor and provider of advanced technology solutions for the global travel and tourism industry, recently signed a long-term partnership with Taiwanese international airline EVA Airways. The airline has selected the Amadeus Altéa suite to manage its international passenger load. The partnership comes after the airline’s application for membership was accepted by Star Alliance, for which Amadeus is the preferred IT platform provider.

The agreement with Amadeus will bring EVA Airways and its subsidiary, UNI Airways, on a common IT platform, offering enhanced customer service function, for both sales and airport environments. The full solution roll-out, scheduled for completion in 2013, will include a series of streamlined passenger service solutions, including inventory, reservations, fare quote and ticketing, passenger check-in and departure control capabilities, and business process alignment. In addition, the integration of Amadeus’ E-Commerce Web Design Services solution will allow the airline a tailored approach to updating its web portal.
Austin Cheng, Executive Vice President - Project Division, EVA Airways, said, “This new long-term IT agreement is testament to our continued strategy to strengthen EVA Airways’ service enhancement and expand our global customer base. Amadeus is the leading IT solutions provider for the global airline industry, and as the favoured partner for the Star Alliance, its Altéa suite was the obvious choice to enhance our end-to-end customer experience.”
David Brett, President, Amadeus Asia Pacific, said that the agreement signified a major Altéa contract with a leading Asian airline; a key milestone for Amadeus. “EVA Airways will join a growing group of over 140 forward-thinking airlines that recognise the flexibility and customer centricity that Amadeus’ state-of-the art technology brings to their operations.”
