The Department of Tourism, Government of Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) is working towards renovating the Gondola cable car in a bid to boost tourism in the state. The cable car in Gulmarg, Srinagar, is around 3,980 metres above sea level, making it the highest cable car in Asia, and generates revenue in millions every year, according to an ANI report.
The renovation will include making available amenities like food courts, shopping stall and a reception centre for tourists. Stating that the renovation would benefit tourists and provide employment to locals, Talat Parvez, Director, Department of Tourism, J&K, said, "Because the number of people visiting Gondola increases day by day, the Chief Minister wanted tourists to be happy when they visit the place. There should be a waiting area where they can sit comfortably and wait for their turn to get on the ride. There should also be an orientation programme to tell them about other places to visit in the valley.”Click here to see the original article>
