The Ministry of Tourism (MoT), Government of India, is planning to promote Film Tourism in the country, for which it is working with the Ministry for Information and Broadcasting to start a film commission that will offer a single-window clearance to filmmakers to shoot in the country.
"There is a lot that India has to offer in terms of locales and that is what we are trying to market," said Hina Usman, an official from MoT,
was quoted as saying in an IANS report. The commission is likely to start functioning in three to four months. "We are in talks with state governments for offering subsidies to the filmmakers too. We are also trying to create a database that will have all the information regarding line producers, or other technicians across different states. We wish to give filmmakers an easy ride than a nightmarish experience," said Nirupama Kotru, Director (Films), Ministry for Information and Broadcasting.
