The Bihar Tourism Department was awarded the Best Heritage Tourism in India award at the recently concluded three-day India Tourism Trade Mart (ITTM) in Bengaluru, according to a report by The Times of India. There were 16 state tourism departments, 20 national travel agencies and 22 international travel agencies participating in the event. Anand Singh, Minister for Tourism, Government of Karnataka, was the chief guest of the event.
Representing Bihar Tourism at the awards function were Tapan Sinha, a senior Tourist Information Officer, Bihar Tourism Department and Gajendra Singh. "We told the visitors that Bihar believed in 'Atithi Devo Bhava' (guests are like god). We informed the visitors about several tourist places in Bihar like Pawapuri, Rajgir, Bodh Gaya and Vaishali," Sinha, was quoted as saying.
