NEWS | Online travel information portal, My Destination, sets up India operations

London based-My Destination, a global network of websites which combines information on the local area and businesses, offering travellers a one-stop shop to book holidays, has set up operations in India. The company has appointed Udaipur-based Blue Caramel Info Services Pvt. Ltd. as their official franchise unit for the Indian region. Through this franchise office, My Destination has launched specific websites for two destinations in India, Rajasthan (www.mydestination.com/rajasthan) and Mumbai
(www.mydestination.com/mumbai). The company also recently unveiled a mobile application for My Destination Mumbai (m.mydestination.com/Mumbai). My Destination has around 68 operational websites for different destinations across the world like Amsterdam, Barbados, Barcelona, British Columbia, Cairo, Cape Town, Dubai, Hawaii, Ireland, Istanbul, Johannesburg, Kenya, London, Madrid, Moscow, Oman, etc. “We will be taking care of the India operations and in addition to the operational Rajasthan and Mumbai websites, we plan to start the work for the Delhi and Gujarat websites shortly. The aim of the parent company is to target more than 150 destinations worldwide by this month,” informed Shinod Lukose, Managing Director, India Region, My Destination & Director, Blue Caramel Info Services Pvt Ltd. Speaking about the need and USP of My Destination, Lukose said, “We felt there was a vacuum in the travel information space with respect to local touch and on-site authentic experience and information. Most of the information available online is either incorrect or outdated because it’s usually done from outside India or from a central office. If it is done locally, then it is unorganised and difficult for the traveller to comprehend. We try to meet each individual service provider listed on the website and try to put authentic and correct information on the site.” According to Lukose, Mydestination.com has many USPs and can be considered as one of the leaders in the travel industry. “We gather information from local experts which is authentic and is regularly updated with quality pictures. The website offers comparative hotel booking rates from 30 leading suppliers across the globe and exclusive deals are also on offer on the site, which not only helps the traveller, but also helps the listed suppliers to generate more traffic and revenue,” he stated.
