In order to showcase the support of the Indian Association of Tour Operators' (IATO) for the Union Ministry of Tourism with the objective of enhancing international tourist arrivas, the newly elected IATO team comprising of Subhash Goyal – President, Sarab Jit Singh, Senior Vice-President, Rajeev Kohli, Vice President, Lally Mathews, Hony. Secretary, Arun Anand, Hony. Treasurer and Lajpat Rai, Hony. Joint Secretary recently met Subodh Kant Sahai, Minister of Tourism, Govt of India at his office in Delhi.
At the meeting, Sahai said “Tourism is very important for our country as it helps in reducing poverty and maintaining quality of life through employment, economic prosperity. The Ministry is already providing assistance to the public and private sector to substantially expand the existing infrastructure in order to create a value chain directly integrating tourism products with international markets which will help generate tourists to India.
” He added in the twelfth five year plan, the emphasis was on skill development, creation of jobs and poverty alleviation through tourism.
