The cruise company is mainly targeting metro cities of India (Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata) along with cities in Gujarat and Rajasthan. It organised few Indian weddings on board its cruise ships last year.
Elaborating on the wedding segment in India, Naresh Rawal, Assistant Vice President – India & South Asia, Genting Hong Kong Limited said, “Despite the global financial crunch or pandemic flu, the wedding segment in India witnessed attractive growth rate. It has huge potential for the cruise industry as wedding and honeymoon fit very well for a product like cruising. We are tapping potential markets in Gujarat and Rajasthan along with metro cities.” He further added, “We offer customised itineraries for the wedding segment along with changes as per the requirements. We also have Indian staff on board which can understand the religious acts and help in the wedding arrangements. Since we have huge capacity halls and restaurants, we can handle large groups as well. Cruise is a better option for wedding tourism as the group can see multiple destinations in a hassle-free way instead of going to a single one.”
