India-based private airline Jet Airways has begun daily direct flights from Doha to Kochi in Kerala.The inaugural flight from Doha (9W555) took off at 2.15am on Saturday. Earlier, a fully booked flight 9W556 arrived from Kochi at 00.45 hours.
Jet Airways general manager (Qatar) K Prasad and airport manager Vijay Bhushan received the passengers and crew and escorted them to the terminal.
The first flight from Doha had about 70 passengers on board.
With the introduction of the latest service, Jet Airways now has daily flights to three Indian destinations i.e. Mumbai, Kozhikode and Kochi.
The airline currently operates a fleet of 81 aircraft.
Besides Qatar Airways, Jet Airways is the only airline which operates daily direct flights between Doha and Kochi.
