Curry houses losing their bite as barriers to migrants go up
It is a plea that will touch the hearts and stomachs of millions: Britain's curry restaurant industry claims that it is on the brink of a crisis (write Will Pavia and Richard Ford).
In the past curry restaurants have benefited from a short-term recruitment dispensation to fill a gap in the labour market, a so-called "sector based scheme".
That dispensation has now ended and it had been thought that the arrival of large numbers of Eastern European migrant workers would cover any shortages of lower-skilled kitchen workers....
