Mumbai-based KV Tours and Travels plans to tie-up with hospitals in major cities like Pune, Hyderabad, Secunderabad, New Delhi and Mumbai to promote medical tourism in the country. This initiative is in keeping with the 'Sure Cure Medical Tourism' campaign that the company had kick-started last year.
According to Vijesh Thakkar, CEO, KV Tours and Travels, the demand for medical treatments in Hyderabad and Pune is rising, mainly due to the economical cost of the treatment. "Besides, the peaceful location of such places makes it more viable as a medical tourism hub," says Thakkar. However, he refuses to divulge details about the investment earmarked for the project this year.
In terms of its outbound tourism offerings, KV Tours is looking to add more destinations, including Germany, Romania and a few Middle Eastern countries, to its itinerary. Apart from that, the company also plans to launch a TV show called 'Sampurana,' focusing on five sub-themes, namely travel and tourism, current affairs and business, religion, mysteries and night life, starting March, 2008. "It will be a weekly travel show. The other details are still being worked out," maintained Thakkar.
