Andhra Pradesh government will host the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) conference here from September 16 to 19 this year.
The PATA conference is being held in India after a gap of 17 years. The decision to host the prestigious event was taken at a review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy here today. Over 1,500 delegates representing tour operators, travel agents, hotel chains and airports, would participate in the conference.
Founded in 1951, PATA, a non-profit partnership between public and private sector travel organisations of developed and developing countries, provides a forum for development, promotion and sales of PATA destinations and tourism products and services. The event would provide an opportunity for the government to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the state and also to popularise important tourist destinations, an official release said here.
