Airlines allowed to increase flights

The government has permitted a few international airlines to increase their flight frequency to Indian cities. Malaysia Airlines will increase its present flight frequencies from Chennai and Bangalore when the winter schedule kicks off this month-end.

Singapore Airlines too would start its direct Singapore-Bangalore flight soon. Air Arabia, the first and largest low-cost carrier (LCC) in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) made its inaugural flight to Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu today.

Coimbatore is the eighth destination for the airline in India. It already connects Ahmedabad, Chennai, Jaipur, Kochi, Mumbai, Nagpur and Thiruvananthapuram to the Gulf with 48 flights per week.

Malaysian Airlines’ flight frequency will now be enhanced to nine flights per week from its current seven per week to Chennai. From Bangalore, the flight capacity will be increased to four flights per week from its current three a week. The airline will operate Airbus 330-300 and Airbus 330-200 on these routes.
